Using Soup Kettle

Using the soup kettle is relatively straight forward, however always ensure that is topped up with water on the inside container and always check that the temperature is holding the soup above 65C

  • Always use a trolley to carry the refill soup never try to carry on its own

  • Always ensure the ladle and holder are changed and cleaned regularly

  • Connect the appliance to the mains power supply.

  • Fill the outer container with approximately 600ml of water.

  • Set the temperature control. The temperature ranges from 1 (lowest) to 12 (highest). The Power light will come on and the kettle will begin to heat up.

  • Note: Kettle is not designed to heat food from cold.

  • Fill the inner container with hot soup and close the lid. Carefully place the inner container into the appliance.

  • Reduce the temperature to maintain heat levels. To maintain temperature, we recommend the lowest heat setting possible to achieve 65C +

  • Ensure the foldable lid is closed when not in use

  • Always keep the soup kettle and surrounding area wiped down

  • Always ensure a supply of clean soup bowls and spoons

  • Use a suitable implement to remove the contents of the kettle. DO NOT tip the kettle to remove the contents.

  • WARNING: Never move or carry the appliance when it is switched on or contains hot liquid.

  • To turn the appliance Off, set the Temperature Control to ‘0’.

  • Empty the water inside every night, clean outside and all areas and refill ready for next day

 

 

Cleaning soup Kettle

The Soup Kettle will require regular cleaning throughout the day as well as deep clean every night including water change.

  • Always turn off and disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning.

  • Clean any spilt food on the appliance immediately.

  • Use soapy water and a damp cloth to clean the exterior of the appliance.

  • The inner container and lid are machine washable.

  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning.

  • Every night switch off kettle and pour out old water, clean al exterior fully to remove any dried on soup and send lid through pot wash along with interior

  • Ensure all surfaces around soup kettle are thoroughly cleaned

  •  

 

Health & safety Soup Kettle

Heated soup kettles are used within all our branches to hold the hot soup, although this should be low risk there are considerations to take in to account due to the nature of the hot soup being stored and the fact that if this spills on a customer or staff it can give a sever burn.

 

  • Always check for faults with soup kettles before switching on these could include loose or trailing wires or damaged handles etc. if in doubt speak immediately with your supervisor before switching on.

  • Always ensure signage is clearly displayed warning everybody of the caution hot Liquid.

  • When carrying pots of hot soup to the bain maries across the buffet floor they should always be transported on a trolley never by hand to protect against spillage.

  • Ensure the pots of soup are not overfilled as this will cause overflow and spillage

  • Try to keep an eye on the soup station and help where required when customers are struggling (especially the older customers), ensure there are saucers as well as soup bowls to ensure they can safely carry the bowls of hot soup.

  • Keep the area around the soup kettles clean to avoid slips

  • When removing the soup pots ensure you have a trolley to hand for removal and be aware of the steam from inside the kettle when removing the pot.

  • Position on a flat, stable surface.

  • DO NOT immerse the appliance in water.

  • DO NOT move or carry the appliance when it is switched on.

  • DO NOT operate the appliance without water in the outer container.

  • Keep the lid closed when not serving.

  • Suitable for indoor use only.

  • This appliance is not suitable for use by children.
