
Pancake machine Use
Note all new pancake machines will need to be seasoned prior to use this may also be required from time to time if a very deep clean has taken place and it is found that the pancakes are sticking.
Seasoning of the pancake machine
Caution: this operation (lasting 1 to 1 ½ hour) is necessary when pancake machine is new.
Use frying oil without other ingredient.
For successful seasoning:

Plug in the power supply cable

Switch on the appliance
-
Heat the appliance in heated to 270°C. Your appliance reaches the required temperature when the orange indicator light goes out.

Keep the appliance at this temperature for the duration of seasoning.

Pour the equivalent of a tablespoon of cooking of frying oil into the centre of the pancake machine.

Using a rolled up piece of paper towel spread this oil evenly, and then let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes so that the pancake plate becomes burnished and completely dry.

Repeat previous operation eight times, decreasing the amount of oil used each time, but carefully respecting the 5 to 10 minutes cooking time for each layer of oil.
A well-seasoned pancake plate is chestnut coloured (dark brown) and has a shine.
Necessary equipment
Here is a list of advisable accessories for successful pancake making:

A wooden or stainless steel spatula

Blue roll or cloth knot

A little bowl of oil / butter to grease the hotplate

A container for your batter

A small size ladle
Cooking

It is recommended to use vegetable oil or butter to grease the pancake machine.

Cooking temperature for pancakes is 200°C approx.

Before spreading the first pancake, or before each pancake making session, lightly grease the pancake machine with oil or butter using a brush or rolled cloth as an applicator

To make a pancake, poor a ladle of batter on the hot plate. Spread the batter with the bottom of the ladle to the required thick / thinness

Once the top of the cooking pancake becomes dry, use the spatula to scrape under the pancake, lift it and turn it to cook the other side for approx. 1 more min until ready

If the appliance remains heated for a long time without being used, ensure you lightly grease the hotplate before re-use.

Before cleaning your appliance, unplug it switch off and let the griddle cool down for 10 mins.
Nightly
The frame

Clean the frame with a sponge dipped in warm water and liquid detergent.

Never use abrasive products or metallic brushes.

Do not clean the appliance under flowing water.

Do not immerse the appliance.

Due to the high temperatures heat, it is normal for the stainless steel can to become brown with time.
The hot plate

After use, Use the grill stone and a little water to clean down the pancake machine, always rubbing in the same direction of up and down to remove all the built up carbon and return the plate back to like new. Pay attention to the sides as well

After cleaning down the hotplate rub all over with damp cloth to remove excess dust

Finally apply thin layer of oil to prevent rust

Pancake machine safety
The pancake machines used within our branches, although not high risk there are certain safety rules you must take into account, and as in all equipment common sense and care should always be taken.
Safe use of pancake machine

Always check for faults before using the pancake machine.
-
Never operate the pancake machine unless you have been suitable trained to do so.

The surface of the pancake machine will get very hot 200C as such be very aware and careful not to touch any part of the machine with hands or fingers, only use the ladle and paddle to handle the batter when using the machine.

When putting oil on to the surface use only a small amount and ensure the surface is dry and free of product, once applied take care with wiping in with the blue roll not to come into contact via fingers or hands with the hot plate

When putting oil on the surface ensure not to put too much as this will cause hot splattering and could lead to burns
-
Do not overcrowd the machine and only cook as many pancakes you can comfortable control

If using plastic bottles to create shaped or coloured pancakes unsure not to touch the hot surface with the tip if the bottle as this would cause it to burn and melt, then get mixed into the batter causing a physical hazard to the customer for whom it is being cooked.

When cleaning the machine switch off and allow to cool before sanding down with the sand stone, when using the sandstone as the surface will be still hot, take care and use the handle device or a cloth to hold the stone safely at arm’s length.

Be aware and informative to ensure no children or customers touch the hot pancake machine whilst in use and hot.

Ensure nothing is touching the surface of the machine while not in use e.g. Leaving the paddle leaning against or on top as this will become hot and a potential burn hazard to the next person using the machine, or inadvertently allowing a plastic oil or sauce bottle come into contact with the side of the hot plate.

This appliance is not designed for use by people (including children) whose physical, sensorial or mental capacities are impaired or by people with no experience or knowledge, unless they have been supervised or given training in the use of the appliance beforehand by a person responsible for their safety.

Do not use the appliance for anything other than the purpose which is described.

There is a risk of accidents if accessories are used that are not recommended by the manufacturer of the appliance.

It is recommended to examine the power supply cable regularly in order to detect any signs of deterioration.

Do not connect nor use any appliance with a damaged plug or cable.
-
In case of failure, the examination and repair should be performed by a qualified technician.

All maintenance must be performed by a qualified technician.

If you need to use an extension lead, take care to unwind the whole length in order to avoid the cable overheating.

In order to avoid electric shocks, do not immerse the cable, socket or body of the appliance in water or any other liquid. Do not handle with wet hands either.

Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.

Do not put the appliance nor its cable on or near a hot surface (electric hotplate, hot gas burner, heated oven etc).

Disconnect the plug when the appliance is not in use or before cleaning.

Do not handle the appliance while hot.
-
Do not touch the hot surfaces.
-
Leave the appliance to cool prior to handling or cleaning it.

Place the appliance on a dry and stable surface, and slightly back from the edge and at least 20 cm from any wall or element liable to be affected by heat.

Do not block the ventilation holes of the plastic base, under the frame.
