Chocolate fountain instructions
How to set up and use Chocolate fountain:
The chocolate fountain should be assembled as soon as possible in the morning before the 12pm opening, by the KP the previous night.
Be sure that the fountain is clean and level
The assembled fountain should look like the picture displayed
-
Ensure fountain is plugged in and switch on to heat up at 4:30pm if you press the (T) button you will see the heat illumination start to flash faster make sure that this is flashing at the fastest setting to fully heat the base bowl fast enough
-
When the fountain is heated up to the correct temperature it will stop blinking, note it will not be possible to switch on the motor while heating light is still blinking and not hot enough
-
whilst it is heating you can go ahead and start melting the chocolate in the microwave, depending on the size of the fountain it will need between 1 and 2 full bags to fill the base properly for optimum operation, use the previous night’s chocolate 1st if there is a lot left.
-
You may have chocolate left from the previous night this will need to be melted and added to the base first, when using last night’s chocolate there is no need to add oil as it will already be in the chocolate from the previous night
If throughout the night, the chocolate cascade goes to one side or has gaps in it there are some things you can check:
-
Is there enough chocolate left, does it need topping up
-
Are there air bubbles trapped in the tower, switch off motor and allow chocolate to all cascade from top of tower with the last bits of the chocolate you may see air bubbles coming out the top, if this is the case start and allow to run then stop again, repeat until no more bubbles.
Chocolate fountain cleaning
Approximately 15 mins prior to cleaning switch off the chocolate fountain using the on/off switch, leave no longer though as you need to remove the chocolate whilst it is still liquid and warm.
-
Prepare a trolley with a large grey tray to put all the parts of the fountain into and a bowl large enough to hold the left over chocolate but not so large it will not fit into the microwave the following day to melt
-
Allow all chocolate to run back through the tower and into the base bowl
-
Put on a pair of blue latex disposable gloves
-
Using a plastic scraper, scrape the tears of the tower to remove excess chocolate into the base.
-
Remove the top crown carefully by pulling it up and place into the grey tray
-
Now inside the tower pull up slowly the corkscrew shaft allowing the chocolate to run back down it and into the base bowl, lift this out very carefully so as not to bang the fins of the corkscrew as this will affect the flow of the fountain if these get damaged, then put into the grey tray
-
Next lift up the tower central cylinder of the fountain, with the attached tears, again be very careful handling this as if the tears get damaged it will drastically alter the flow of the fountain and ruin the whole effect, when lifting across to the tray take care not to drip chocolate all over everywhere.
-
After this the bottom part of the tower, called the tower locating bush will need to be unscrewed and put into the tray
-
Below the locating bush you will find the top of the revolving axle pin, this is magnetic and sticks a bit in the hole but you will need to firmly pull this up and out, taking care of the plastic washer inside the hole stays in place, place this axle pin safely in the tray and ensure to look after it and letting the person washing know where it is as it is the most vital part of the whole fountain and without it the fountain will not work at all.
-
Now you are ready to lift off the top base bowl full of chocolate, get your bow ready and next to the fountain ready to pour in, lift up the top bowl from the bottom bowl (sometimes it needs just a little twist clockwise or anti clockwise to free the vacuum caused by the water between the two bowls), it will lift straight up and out then carefully pour the chocolate into the empty bowl, its best to have an assistant at this point to scrape out the chocolate from the base into the bowl.
-
All the components in the tray can all be taken away now to be carefully hand washed.
-
The second base unit now can be topped up with water to the fill line inside and all areas including the base unit wiped down with clean warm damp cloth to remove all traces of chocolate. Note in some cases the second base bowl may need to be cleaned as well if this is the case always remember to refill with water when assembling the fountain back together
-
When washing ensure to use hot water and remove all the chocolate, use a long handled round brush or tongs with a cloth on the end to clean inside the tower it is essential to remove all the chocolate from all parts as once hardened it can cause the machine to break the next time it is used.
-
Also be extremely careful when washing all components, keep it altogether and back into another clean tray and only wash this item at one time not whilst doing other items, take extra care not to lose the axle pin.
-
Once the fountain has been cleaned it will need to be carefully polished back up with blue cloth
-
Once all parts have been cleaned and polished then the chocolate fountain needs to reconstructed (the reverse of all steps above ensuring all parts are fixed correctly and securely)
Maintenance of chocolate fountain
-
In order to prolong the life of the chocolate fountain and cut down on down time and needed repairs you need to follow the points below:
-
Clean your fountain thoroughly and nightly
-
It is important to clean all parts of the machine on a daily basis, as the solidified chocolate can cause breakages of the machine
-
-
Unplug chocolate fountain when cleaning with water
-
take necessary safety measures to eliminate risk of electrocution.
-
-
Inspect all parts regularly
-
Regularly inspect the parts of the fountain when dismantling for signs of wear and tear, and report immediately so as parts can be ordered, also take extra care not to lose any parts during the dismantling, cleaning and assembling process.
-
-
Report any problems immediately and switch off to avoid further damage or problems
-
-
Cleaning
-
Never use abrasive surfaces to clean the highly polished fountain such as sponge scourers or metal scourers.
Chocolate fountain Health & safety
A risk of fire or electrical shock exists in all electrical equipment please follow the safety guidelines given below:

Always check for faults before using the Chocolate fountain.
-
Never operate the Chocolate fountain unless you have been suitable trained to do so.
-
Avoid contact with moving parts
-
The chocolate fountain should not be operated or used by children without supervision

Do not touch hot surfaces of the chocolate fountain
-
Do not handle the auger or remove the tower when in motion, always ensure the fountain has been switched off first and the motor has stopped running as well as the chocolate emptied out of the corkscrew within the tower
-
Never immerse the base of the fountain in water, this contains all the electrical components and motor, never use by water. To protect from electrical shock DO NOT immerse cord, plugs or fountain base in water or other liquid
-
Unplug the unit when not in use and cleaning. Allow the appliance to cool down before putting on or taking off parts and also before cleaning the appliance
-
Always switch off the machine before attempting to clear objects from within the chocolate bowl then it should only be done using a skewer or tongs never with hands or fingers.
-
DO NOT use an abrasive sponge or scouring pad on the unit
-
Never place anything other than the intended ingredients in the base bowl
-
DO NOT operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug
-
DO NOT use any other attachments on the fountain other than those supplied by the manufacturer
-
DO NOT use the appliance outdoors or in windy areas such as near doorways, open windows or air condition units
-
DO NOT let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces. Do not place on or near a gas heater, electrical burner or near a heated oven
-
Provide adequate air space under and around the appliance for air circulation
-
Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot liquids
-
DO NOT use the appliance for other than intended use
-
Unit should be placed on a dry level surface to operate properly.
-
Do not use any static invertor, power transformer or other power modification on the unit
-
Keep hands and foreign objects out of the fountain while operating. Check regularly for large pieces of food, skewers etc. falling into the base bowl. These will clog the base of the tower causing the chocolate not to flow properly and may dislodge the tower
